You made it! This class is the second level of our two-part obedience program. In this class, we’ll be taking the skills we’ve learned on the road throughout the neighbourhood. Your dog will learn to navigate public sidewalks with and without interacting with other people. Opportunities permitting, we will visit vets’ offices, pet stores, and other stores that pets are allowed in. This class will run rain, shine, or snow! If weather conditions are genuinely too extreme, class may be bumped back a week, or a class credit may be offered, or arrangements may be made to hold the entire class in one indoor location, at the trainers’ discretion.

Prerequisites: Puppy Prep School, Puppy Boot Camp, Good Boy Basics, or comparable classes from another facility. This class is not for dogs who bark excessively at other dogs (we would be happy to help you with this problem in our Barkers Anonymous class or in a private training session!).

What you will need to bring:

  • Your dog’s vaccination records (DHPP vaccinations up to date for all ages; rabies vaccinations are required for dogs over 6 months old). We recommend emailing these to us before class. Please include the class you’ve registered for in the subject line of your email. Vaccinations must have been completed by a veterinarian.
  • A flat collar or body harness (no prong collars, choke chains, or slip leads)
  • A bag of small treats broken into small pieces (it’s always a good idea to bring more than you think you will need!)
  • Your dog’s favourite toy
  • A stuffed chew toy, such as a Kong, to keep your dog occupied while you’re learning
  • Adequate clothing for yourself, including appropriate footwear
